Hate it or love it
....*yawn*.... just sitting here, listening to some rap, mostly 50 Cent "The Massacre" and my new "cool crunk" CD. Love 'em both, by the way. :-D Seems my favorite song of the day is track 22 on Massacre: "Hate It or Love It (G Unit remix)." It's been going through my head all day:
Hate it or love it, the underdog's on top
And I'm gonna shine, homie, until my heart stop
Go 'head, envy me
I'm rap's MVP
And I ain't goin' nowhere, so you can get to know me

Aside from it's uplifting, almost epic melody, this song stuck out as a gem to me for it's message. It's humble and victorious at the same time. Essentially, this is a remix of the original 50 Cent/the Game version, which appeared on the Game's CD, "the Documentary." All the members of G Unit - Fiddy, Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks, Young Buck, and (recently booted from the clique for disloyalty) the Game - are telling their stories of how they escaped their lives in "the cold world" of selling drugs and gang violence to rise to the top of the rap charts. This song represents the eternal struggle to succeed in our passions - to be heard and appreciated. Though there are times of hardship, if we continue on our path with determination, we will eventually reach our goals. But it's important to have friends, allies. Alone, we may fall. but together we can accomplish anything... at least this is the dream. Who knows? If Curtis Jackson (50 Cent) could start a scared boy on the streets, survive being shot 7 times, and then become the #1 rapper, maybe there's hope for our dreams too.
From the beginnin of the end
Losers lose, winners win
This is real, we dont gotta pretend
The cold world that we in
Its full of pressure and pain
I thought it would change, its stayin the same
